Mrs. Cora A. WESTFALL living near Alamo who recently tried to commit suicide was found to be insane at an inquest by the sanity commission of Ripley Twp. She will be taken to Central Hospital in Indianapolis.

Alamo, Ind May 17 - Relatives here have received word of the death of Mrs. Charles WESTFALL at the Central Hospital for the insane at Indianapolis. The body will be brought back to Waynetown on the evening train and will be taken to the home northeast of here. The message stated that Mrs. Westfall died suddenly but did not give the cause of the death. About a month ago, Mrs. Westfall attempted to end her life by taking carbolic acid because of ill health. Shortly after this she was taken to the Central Hospital and it was reported that her condition had been improving. The deceased was 48 years old and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Dietz of this place. She was married to William Westfall in 1886 and to this union, one daughter, Mrs. Carl Smith of Alamo was born. She was united with the 1st Presbyterian Church on March 1 1896 and since that time has always been one of the most faithful members. She is survived by her husband, Charles Westfall, one daughter, Mrs. Carl Smith, two sisters, Mrs. Martin Parrett and Mrs. Ed Bell all of Alamo, also two brothers, Bert Deitz of Alamo and James D Deitz of Jasper, Tenn. The funeral will be from the Methodist Church Friday afternoon and the services will be in charge of Rev. Tremain of Waynetown. Burial will be in the Alamo cemetery.

The body of Mrs. Charles WESTFALL all her life a resident of Alamo and vicinity will arrive here from Indianapolis tomorrow according to word received by relatives this morning. The message stated that Mrs. Westfall's death occurred suddenly this morning at the Central Hospital for the Insane and no particulars were given. Relatives here are puzzled to know the cause. Last April, Mrs. Westfall made an attempt on her own life, using carbolic acid while temporarily insane it is believed.For a time, it was thought that death would result but prompt medical attention saved her. Later she was adjudged insane and on April 18 she was taken to the hospital for the insane in Indianapolis.The deceased was held in the highest respect in Alamo and vicnity and her act in attempting to take her own life was a great shock to her friends.The concensus of opinon was that she was not in her right mind when she made the attempt. Mrs. Westfall was the daughter of William and Lucy Deets of this place and was born May 28, 1868. She was married Oct 21, 1888 and one daughter, Mrs. Carl Smith was born as a result.The deceased has been a member of the Presbyterian Church since 1896. Two sisters and two brothesr survive: Mrs. Edward Bell, Mrs. Martin Parrett and Bert Deets of Alamo and James Deets of near Denver, Ten. Funeral services are to be held Friday afternoon at the Methodist Church in Alamo, conducted by the Rev. Tremaine. Burial in Alamo Cemetery.
